- Chromatic harmonicas playing melodies and harmonies (as many as four parts in some arrangements)
- Bass harmonicas playing string-bass-type accompaniments in extremely low register
- Chord harmonicas playing rhythm accompaniments similar to those played on a guitar
- Diatonic harmonicas playing some of the solos
